For the first invitation round of the program year 2019-20, the Australian Government had issued 1000 ITAs for Visa subclass 189 and 100 ITAs for Visa subclass 489.The applicants with 80 immigration points qualify for the invites. At the same time last year, 1010 ITAs were issued which is 90 less than the current year’s invites.
For Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189), applicants who have reached 80 points on or before 13th May 2019 are invited to apply. And, for Skilled Regional (provisional) Visa (subclass 189), applicants who reached 80 points on or before 5th January 2019 are invited to apply.The ITAs issued this month has been the highest since April 2019 when the Australian immigration authority has been issuing just 110 ITAs consecutively for 3 months.
In 2018-19 program year, the total ITAs issued were 23,040 out of which 22,920 were issued for Skilled – Independent Visas (subclass 189) and remaining 120 for Skilled – Regional (Provisional) Visas (subclass 489).
However, in this round, for below mentioned occupations, SkillSelect first allocates available places to Skilled – Independent Visas (subclass 189) and then the remaining to Skilled – Regional (Provisional) Visas (subclass 489). If all places are taken up by subclass 189 visas then there will be no invitations issued for subclass 489 visas.
