The SOL determines which occupations are eligible
for independent and family sponsored skilled migration to Australia and
identifies occupations which are of high value. Based on expert advice
form Skills Australia, the Australian Government has updated its SOL
list for the year 2012-13.
The updated SOL features 192 high value occupations in which 4 occupations are added and 4 occupations have been removed.
The following occupations have been added to the Sol list:
- Production Manager (Mining)
- Computer Network and Systems Engineer
The following Occupations are removed from SOL List:
- Wall and Floor Tiler
The SOL is continuously
reviewed by Skills Australia on an annual basis, to ensure that it meets
the demands of Australia Labour Market. To find out is your occupation
is in SOL please refer to Schedule -3
Australian Pass mark will be relaxed from 1st July, 2012.
To qualify for Skill Select Visa Subclasses (Skilled Independent 189), 190 and 489, the Pass Mark will be 60 points. Earlier the Pass Mark was 65 points; the DIAC has reduced the Pass Mark down to 60 points to attract more skilled workers. Lowering of Pass Mark would make easier for trade workers and skilled migrants age between 45 to 49 to migrate Australia.
